“La Mer (sea) and La Mère (Mother) melt into a game of assonance that refers to the Mediterranean as the cradle of civilization – Giovanna Taviani reminds – From the old time of the Sea People, the Mediterranean is a common Cradle that, beyond borders and different religions,  combines the coasts of Africa, Asia and Europe, East and West, with images, tastes, cultures and common traditions.

Start up from South to precede the failure of the united Europe to the united civilization of the Mediterranean, as a dynamic and open space, which goes beyond its geographical boundaries. This is our slogan, for a Southern hemisphere too long battered by conflicts and wars, and at the same time, it is the keeper of ancient traditions and irrepressible values.

Utopia islands and a Community of resistence, to return to dream another Mediterranean and to imagine a new humanism, made of solidarity, integration and respect for each other, where wandering will give way to belonging.

‘From migration as suffering to mobility as an inalienable human right’, it is the subtitle of the essential document of the International Human Mobility which is the Charta of Palermo by the Mayor Leoluca Orlando. This is our challenge and our u-topia, at SalinaDocFest, the island that (still) is not there, but that must be assumed by the power of memory, art and culture “.
